On Tue, 24 Mar 1998, Perry Metzger wrote a boring reply titled "a reply to
more boring text from Thomas Donaldson," who of course was writing a reply
to another boring post from Perry Metzger writing a reply to another post
from Thomas Donaldson, and so on:

[snipped out of compassion for readers]

Since none of the 5 or so participants in the discussions of machine
intelligence and human identity shows any sign of changing his opinion on
these topics to any degree whatsoever, and since these discussions have
continued as background noise on CryoNet (often drowning the signal) for
several years, and since the discussions concern matters that cannot be
resolved conclusively till the middle of the next century (by which time
almost all the participants will be dead or frozen)--why bother?
