I think you will be hard pressed to find any island, which is, - 
privately owned or not-, not subject to the national legislation 
of any country.  No, whatever you do, practice cryonics or pursue 
frowned upon scientific research, such as human cloning, genetics 
etc., I am afraid you will have to do it under the umbrella of an 
existing sovereign national legislative entity.  That will of 
course only happen if the government of a small nation can see an 
economic advantage in permitting such activities, in similar 
manner as now exists in tax havens.

Now you just have to find a nation, which is small enough to be 
impressed by the economic clout a few stray cryonicists can 
muster.  :)
