JUDGE DELAYS ASSISTED - SUICIDE LAWSUIT HEARING

A federal judge has postponed a hearing on a lawsuit challenging
Oregon's physician- assisted suicide law. The hearing, originally
scheduled for today, is on the docket for May 8 in Eugene.

U.S. District Judge Michael Hogan postponed the hearing in order
to consider arguments by lawyers who want to add a terminally ill
plaintiff to their lawsuit and try to reignite it.

Hogan dismissed the suit last year on orders from the 9th U.S.
Circuit Court of Appeals but has allowed plaintiffs the
opportunity to argue that he should reinstate it.
