Well, there's no way to make it sound like an achievement. But certainly heated debate is still healthier than quiet complacency. >I'd like to clarify [Peter Merel's speculation] Thanks for detecting the troll. I wasn't quite clear on which parts of CC Charles and Mike had referred to. > CryoCare is *not* getting out of the cryo-org >business, but is, rather, doing little to promote growth, and >as much as possible to foster research and improved >cryonics services (through BioTransport). >[...] > The BPI and 21CM staff now involved in delivering >cryonics services intend to continue to contribute to the >development of better cryonics services, but expect to do so >as consultants to BioTransport rather than through BPI. I contrast this with overview material on the (somewhat dated) CC website: * Management is provided by CC, which takes full legal responsibility for its patients but employs the other companies to perform specific functions. * 21st Century Medicine, Inc. is the for-profit research company that develops many of the medical technologies applied by BioPreservation to CryoCare patients. * Cryopreservation procedures are performed by BPI. * Long-term maintenance of patients in the frozen state is provided by CryoSpan. * Long-term financial investment is controlled by The Independent Patient Care Foundation * Protecting patient interests is done via a unique system of Patient Advocates I'm not exactly sure where TransTime fits in here, but I'm content that this will be made clear over time. So BPI is moving by stages into research, 21CM will become a vehicle for investment, and BioTransport is taking on the cryopreservation services. But am I hearing right that CC is closing its doors to new members? Or is it just not actively campaigning for them? And/Or is it that CC is offering Alcor and/or ACS as options for cryopreservation services too? Is there any effect on the other bits and pieces above? It may be that the details are in flux, but if not I'm afraid I'm still a little confused. Peter Merel. Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=9506
