I seem to remember it once being said that in business, the customer who
complains is your best friend. (So you can put it right.) The one that goes
away, never comes back and says nothing it your worst enemy.

Also, if someone has a probalem with a business they may tell a dozen of
their friends. If they are pleased with it, they'll probably only tell one
or two.

Alright, I know that cryonics is not a proper business because the product
isn't guaranteed, researched etc., but thiese factors still apply. Many
people have rejected it but have not told the cryonics organisations
(really) why.

The cryonics organisations conjecture it is because of the cost, or
what-the-neighbours say or whatever. Often arguments raised about population
etc may really be "Well, I'd like to do it by the neighbours will tell me
about population etc." Indeed people may sound out their friends by adopting
a negative stance, hoping subsconsciously that the friend may be less
negative. However the friend may think, well, he is negative, so I'd better
be also.

A survey with a box

"I'd like to do it but problems with those around me would make it too
difficult"

or some suchlike would be revealing, especially if the survery was
anonynmous.
