This is an issue which will not be settled by a majority vote. The Universe is not a democracy. The thing to listen to when you speak to someone who claims revival is impossible is their REASONS. Then bring those reasons to me or any other advocate of cryonics and hear what WE have to say about them. If they give no reasons, their opinion is worthless. And I personally would be happy to discuss any such proposed reasons, either personally or on Cryonet. Not that you won't find others happy to do so also. It is a hard thing to say, I know, but every reason why cryonics don't work that I have heard (and I've been an active advocate of cryonics since before 1975) on examination turn into rationalizations of a desire not to consider cryonics aat all. For instance, some come down to saying that it is immoral; well, that's unanswerable on its own terms, but morality is hardly a valid reason for saying that something is impossible. And I'll add that some of those (particularly cryobiologists) who claim that revival is impossible have done everything they could to prevent us from doing the research needed so that we can find a way to suspend people reversibly ie. one in which revival can actually be done. Right now, those efforts look like they are beginning to fail. They've spent years trying to MAKE it impossible, but all that effort is falling to pieces. To Paul Wakfer: Well. I guess we agree on one more thing, even if we disagree on many others. Best wishes and long long life to all, Thomas Donaldson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=9804
