Subject: Upcoming Conference in Florida
Content-Language: en
Hello, Folks,
This is Rudi Hoffman in Florida.
I have sent this info out to most of my Florida based clients/friends, and
wanted to upload it to Cryonet as well.
Dear Fellow Cryonaut:
This is Rudi Hoffman from Port Orange, FL. I hope this email finds you well
and happy.
It is my understanding that there will be no major Alcor/Cryonics conference
this year. Consequently, I thought it would be good idea if those of us in
Florida had an opportunity to get together.
The attached is an announcement of an upcoming conference (upcoming rather
soon, actually) sponsored by the "Center for Inquiry," an organization
dedicated to promoting humanistic ethics and a rational worldview. I have
been a
very happy subscriber to the two magazines they promulgate, "Free Inquiry" and
"Skeptical Inquirer" for over a dozen years, and I was pleased to recently
have an article about cryonics published in "Free Inquiry."
I apologize for the lack of lead time...I only found about this conference
last week myself...but I am enthused about attending this conference the 22
and 23rd of February in Orlando. The costs for both the conference and the
rooms are relatively low compared to other conferences of this type. And one
of
the keynote speakers is James Hughes, a great and interesting guy who has
spoken at Alcor conferences in the past and until recently was the president of
the "World Transhumanist Association."
So, I would I would encourage you to come to this conference if you can...we
hope to have a reasonable group of cryonicists in attendence. I truly think
you will enjoy and benefit from this experiece if you can make it. The AAA
room rate was only $95, and we encourage room sharing.
Whether you can or cannot make this conference, thank you again for being a
valued and loyal client, and your trust and referrals over our years
together. Please email or call me anytime at 800-749-3773.
Warmly and Professionally Yours, For Centuries,
Rudi

Dear readers,
May I commend to you a most provocative conference in the fun city of
Orlando on February 22nd and 23rd, Friday evening and Saturday. The title is
the
important topic: Science in Ethics: Building a Good Life.
The speakers are well qualified to challenge you, and you will have an
opportunity to meet secular humanists and scientific rationalists from
throughout
Florida in the spirit of conviviality.
We very much hope you will register and participate in the sixth state-wide
annual conference sponsored by Center for Inquiry Florida.
Cordially,
Paul Kurtz
Chairman
Sixth Annual Center for Inquiry Conference in Florida
Science in Ethics: Building a Good Life
February 22-23, 2008, Orlando, Florida
Join us for:
* refreshing social fellowship
* cutting-edge speakers
* stimulating discussion and Q&A
SCIENCE by itself is a neutral word -- neither good nor bad -- not a warm,
fuzzy emotion we can wrap around. But science has made our lives easier and
more enjoyable.
So we ask: What values can reason and science add to our lives?
In answer, our speakers will cover a spectrum of science topics ...
practical uses of science, science education (including of course, our science
education uproar here in Florida), science in medicine/mental health, and not
least, how can we promote good science as CFI communities and individuals.
Registration
We've listened to you, our members, and sharply cut conference and hotel
